All-Star FAQ

Can you tell me a little more about what it means to play on a All-Star Team?
For many kids, playing on a All-Star team is a once in a lifetime opportunity. They represent the best players at their age group in RHLL.  District All-Stars will compete against Alexandria, Arlington, Falls Church, McLean, Vienna, Great Falls, and Mason District. They will have their name announced during player introductions and line up along the basepaths before the game just as they do at the MLB All-Star Game. It is exhilarating!  Local All-Star tournaments will vary, but it will be a weekend packed with baseball and fun!

Are there any eligibility requirements?
To be considered for a District All-Star team, players must meet two essential eligibility requirements. First, players must have participated in at least 60% of regular season games. Participation is defined as playing at least six consecutive defensive outs and having at least one at-bat during a game.
Additionally, players are expected to make a significant commitment to the All-Star team. Specifically, players must be available to attend at least 90% of all-star practices and games. Please note that additional details regarding practices are provided separately. By meeting these participation and availability commitments, players demonstrate their dedication to the team and ensure a successful All-Star experience. Final team selections and roster announcements will only be made after verifying that these requirements have been met.

Is there a cost to play on a All-Star team?
To help offset expenses, including uniforms and tournament fees, we require a $150 fee per player. This contribution ensures we can provide a top-notch experience for our All-Stars. We understand that this fee may present a challenge for some families. If you need assistance, please don't hesitate to reach out. Our league offers a support program to ensure every player can participate.

What's Included:
As part of your $150 fee, each player will receive:
  • All-Star jersey
  • Hat
  • Two practice jerseys
  • Socks
  • Belt
  • Personalized All-Star yard sign
What is the practice schedule?
The practice schedule for All-Star teams will be determined by the Manager and Coaches. Typically, teams can expect daily practices lasting 1-2 hours, although occasionally practices may run longer. Additionally, scrimmages against teams from neighboring leagues will be incorporated into the practice plan to provide valuable game experience. Practices are scheduled to begin on June 1st, immediately following the team announcements. Please note that the practice schedule is subject to change, and families will be notified of any updates by the Manager or Coaches.

What documents does the league require from each district player?

District All-Stars:
If your player is selected as a new District All-Star, please note that specific documents are required to verify their eligibility. New All-Stars must provide an original birth certificate and either multiple proofs of residency or a school enrollment form. Returning All-Stars, however, do not need to submit any additional documents.
The RHLL All-Star Coordinator will work closely with Team Managers to collect and verify the necessary documents.

Local All Stars:
Depending on the tournament rules, players may need to bring a copy of their birth certificate to confirm age.

All -Star Clinics

Saturday May 17th,  we'll be hosting All-Star clinics for interested players. The schedule is as follows:

Majors All Stars: Fred Crabtree Field 2, 6:30pm - 8:00pm

9-11 All Stars: Fred Crabtree Field 1, 6:30pm - 8:00pm

8-10 All Stars: Brown's Chapel Field 1, 6:30pm - 8:00pm

These clinics are optional, and attendance is not required for player selection. Players may attend any clinic they are eligible for based on their age; however, this does not limit which team they may be selected for. The clinics will provide coaches with an additional opportunity to evaluate players before making their selections.

To ensure a smooth process, please have players wear their game uniforms and arrive 15 minutes early to check-in. This will help us get started promptly at 6:30pm.

Important note: Players must be registered for All-Stars to attend the clinics.
